10 facts about black holes

A black hole is a  region of space having a gravitational field so intense that no matter or radiation can escape.

  1. Black holes can effect time
  2. The nearest black hole to the earth is 1,600 light years away
  3. Black holes are not funnel shaped they are actually spheres.
  4. Black holes spin
  5. Getting near a black hole can kill you in so many ways.
  6. There are different kinds of black holes
  7. Albert Einstein did not discover black holes
  8. Nothing can escape the pull of a black hole
  9. Black holes might create elements that make life possible
  10. Black holes determine the number of stars
The reason they call it black hole is because it sucks up all the light that hits the border and reflects nothing. black holes Form when an amply compact mass deforms space and time, a black hole has a defined surface known as the “event horizon” which marks the point of no return. Now that is scary to think about. Little is known about black holes but several scientists in history have developed their own theories about their properties and structures.

How to predict an earthquake and can you stop it?

An earthquake also known as seismic activity is a sudden and violent shaking of the ground, and sometimes causing great destruction, as a result of movements within the earths crust or volcanic action. Earthquakes most likely happens near boundaries of tectonic plates. And tectonic plates are the two sub layers of the earths crust that move, float and even fractures and whose interaction causes earthquakes, mountains, and many more.
Earthquakes are one of the most devastating natural disasters. But like a hurricane, tornado, volcano etc can you predict it? My answer to you all is yes you can predict a earthquake. The ways you can predict it is laser beams which can be used to detect plate movement, A seismometer that is used to pick up the vibrations in the earths crust a increase in the vibrations may indicate an earthquake, and also when radon gases escapes from cracks in the earths crust. I'm no scientists, but i think the most promising way to predict an earthquake is by measuring radon gases. i say this because once the radon gases seeps through the earth crust you can make a educated guess on where the earthquake will happen. For example, a technician at Italy's National Institute for Nuclear Physics claimed that he was able to predict the L'Aquila earthquake by measuring the radon gas seeping from the Earth's crust.
We can predict an earthquake but the real question is can we stop it from happening? The answer is no it is impossible to physically stop an earthquake. But with the proper structures and equipment went can lower the chance of catastrophic damage. Some companies are building safer structures, so if a earthquake was to happen the building wouldn't just collapse. We can also prepare in advance by taking preventative measures and knowing how to respond. Some things you can do during an earthquake is take cover, react safely, and many more.
Hence, even though we can not stop earthquakes, but we can learn more. In hopes of discovering ways to protect ourselves from them.

10 interesting facts about Venus you probably didn't know

Venus is a planet that is apart of our solar system. Venus is the second planet from the sun. Also, is the second largest terrestrial planet. But like any other planet there are facts that people fail to know.

  1.  After the sun and the moon, Venus is the next brightest object in our night sky
  2.  Venus is the only planet in our solar system to rotate clockwise! Due to its very slow rotation, experts have been lead to believe that at one time far in the past, something may have collided with the planet that changed its rotation.
  3. Venus is named after the Roman goddess of love and beauty.
  4. Venus can be bright enough in the night sky to cast shadows! These types of shadows are known as “Venusian shadows”
  5. A day on Venus would last for 243 Earth days, whilst an entire year on Venus would last for 224.7 days – making a year on Venus shorter than a day!
  6. Venus is often said to be Earth’s twin sister, as they are both of similar sizes, mass and density.
  7. The planet’s atmosphere is mostly made up from Carbon Dioxide.
  8. Due to the thick atmosphere on Venus, temperatures on the surface can reach up to a staggering 470 degrees Celsius!
  9. There are more volcanoes on the surface of Venus then there are on any other planet within our Solar System. We are unsure on how active these volcanoes are, if at all.
  10. Venus is the only planet named after a female.

Are we alone on this world and Can we live on other planets?

NASA announced evidence on Thursday Jupiter’s moon has a saltwater ocean under its icy surface; the ocean seems to have more water than all the water on earth’s surface, according to new Hubble observations. Scientists estimate that the ocean is 60 miles thick, which is about 10 times deeper than earth’s oceans. “This discovery marks a significant milestone, highlighting what only Hubble can accomplish” stated by John Grunsfield, assistant administrator of NASA’s science mission directorate at NASA headquarters.                                                                                                                        Hubble   is a 2.5 billion dollar worth of grade A equipment, Hubble is a telescope that has a orbit height of 327 miles and can see up to 10 to 15 billion light years. Mars has methane which is one of the many proponents of oxygen and that could mean there’s life. Mars has about one-third the gravity of earth. If a rock dropped on mars, it would fall more slowly than a rock falls on earth .                     A person who weighs 100 pounds on earth would only weigh 27 pounds on mars because of the reduced gravity. Tau-Ceti-F is a super earth candidate like its sibling Tau-Ceti-E, but it orbits close to the outer edge of Tau-Ceti’s habitable zone. This exoplanet is at 6.6 times as massive as earth and could be suitable for life, if its atmosphere traps significant amounts of heat.                            Astronomers have discovered two new super-earths orbiting on ancient 11.5 billion years old star a mere 13 light years from here. One planet is in the habitable zone, prompting a researcher to wonder what kind of life could have evolved over such a long period. For comparison, these exoplanets are 2.5 times older than the universe itself, which is about 13.7 billion years old. If there is life on one of these planets and that’s a BIG IF, it would be amazing.                                                                                  We believe that scientists on earth should do everything they can to try to figure out if there is life on these other planets. We have major faith that there is life on these planets but who knows. We hope that someday, it may not be very soon but we live the day to find out the answer that question. Our perspective on this is that it is a mystery. We as people on earth are basically in the dialing ringing phase of a phone call. So our question to you’ll is do you think anyone will PICK UP or will it go to VOICEMAIL?

Cash-Man's perspective of Aerospace engineering

I guarantee that a time in your life you asked yourself who develops Spacecrafts and Aircraft's? And 9/10 times the answer would be NASA. Well, in a way you're right but the Master minds behind these developments are aerospace engineers. Aerospace engineering is the primary branch of engineering concerned with the research, design process, development, construction, testing, science and technology of aircraft and spacecraft.                                                                                                        Aerospace engineers do various things. Such as design aircraft, spacecraft,  satellites and missiles. They also test prototypes. Aerospace engineers study the necessary physics for the designing aircraft that will fly. Some may ask how do they do it? The answer is simple.... the basic principles of physics. Physics is the natural science that involves the study the matter and its motion through space and time, along with related concepts such as energy and force. Also, aerospace engineers specialize in two types of engineering. Which is aeronautical and astronautical. Aeronautical engineers works with aircraft's. They work with the theory, technology, and practice of flight within the earths atmosphere. On the other hand, Astronautical engineers works with the science and technology of spacecraft and how they perform inside and outside our atmosphere. The engineers aren't really hands on , they spend most of their time in an office environment because designing requires a sophisticated  computer equipment.                                                                                 In order to be a aerospace engineer you must have your bachelor degree in aerospace engineering. You also need to have important qualities. These qualities are analytical skills, business skills, critical-thinker skills, math skills and writing skills. The median annual wage for aerospace engineers was 103,720 in May 2012.Which is $49.87 per hour.                                                                      Hence, Aerospace engineers will change the way we look at life. They continue to create innovative ideas to make life better.
